SkEditor April 2026 Features Announcement

· 2 min read

Hi!

A new month, a new perspective on SkEditor!

I’ve changed my mind about the direction of SkEditor. I’ve thought about it, and I’ve reversed all of my previous decisions so SkEditor can become a much better app that meets the standards of 2026.

Bringing modern technology to SkEditor

You may know that SkEditor was created using some ancient thing called “C#”. It’s over 20 years old! I also used a framework called AvaloniaUI. It allowed me to create a pixel-perfect UI for every desktop platform, and I could even compile it directly to native code. That’s a horrible way to build an app in 2026!

So, let’s finally move SkEditor to modern technologies! I want to rewrite it in Electron, which is really fancy and modern! It will basically allow me to write a website that just pretends to be a desktop app. Isn’t that amazing? I know some people are low on RAM these days because of the massive price increases, so I’m sorry, but SkEditor will now require at least 32 GB of RAM to run, with 64 GB being highly recommended. I know some of you might protest, but that’s the price of modernity. You can’t stop progress!

Reverting my decision about AI

When I wrote my last post a week ago, I declared something incredibly stupid. I said that the official AI integration concept was dead. I even called the AI hype “fake” and “a bubble”. That’s absolutely horrendous! SkEditor will have the best AI integration in the world. In fact, I’m thinking about removing the editor entirely and replacing it with an AI Chat that will generate, run, debug, and test your code - and even play on your server for you afterward!

I know some of you paranoid folks might be concerned about privacy, but honestly, you shouldn’t be. The AI will be trained on your local data, so it will know everything about you, probably even more than you do. That’s actually a great feature. You can think of it as your new best friend who knows your deepest secrets and fears. Isn’t that wonderful? I can’t wait to see how this will revolutionize the way we code!

When?

So, uh, I know that after everything I just said, you probably can’t wait to see all these amazing features in the new SkEditor. I really, really understand you.

The problem is that I spent all my tokens generating this announcement, so I don’t have any left to run an AI agent to actually write the code. I don’t know when the limit will reset because I can’t even read anymore without the help of AI, but I sincerely hope it will be soon. Once it does, the agent will one-shot a perfect web app with all the features I mentioned, and it will be released immediately.

oh, wait! I actually have something to show you! I’ve already vibe-coded a prototype (there were some minor issues, like the app wiping my entire hard drive, that’s why i told the agent to build a new one). You can check it out yourself here: localhost:3000
